Precious Pixie Corner

Do you have a problem that you need help with? Magical, Esoteric or personal.. Our very own Vagina Buttercup is here to answer all.....So don’t be shy, you can email, Whatsapp or private message on Facebook Messenger..So over to the wonderful Witch herself...

“Oh my goodness, how exciting is this??? I cannot tell you all enough how honoured I am to be your resident Magical Agony Auntie, your No.1 Fey for solving spiritual and cosmic distress. As well as a general all round Goddess for go to advice here in Precious Pixie Corner.

But firstly please allow me to introduce myself properly. I am of course Vagina Buttercup, Witch & Druid of this and many other realms, and long time resident of a little known & much hidden place called Magpie Bottom. This will, I hope, become a little space of sacred sharing of advice as well as the problems & the trials and tribulations that we can face in our world. So please don’t be shy, do send in your quires, your life quandaries and all round magical problems and I will do my best to answer all of your questions to the best of my abilities. However, for this month, I thought I would start us off with a question that in recent years seems to have become ‘a bit of a thing’. In fact I’ve lost track how many times I’ve been asked this particular question, which is....

“What colour clothes should I wear in ritual?”

Well firstly Ladies & Gentlemen, are you not magical workers? Sure you understand colour association in your magical/ritual work, and if not why not?...Well my indecisive Witches, Wizards, Druids, Heathens & all & those in between or on either side of these titles....

In short...Whatever you want is the answer! Are we not adults, do we not all know our own minds? Seriously, there does seem to be a serious lack of the basic fundamentals here!

Obviously we should always consider the intent, the focus and/or the time of year, etc.. Yes, yes, my Precious Pixies, I know we all like to dress up, some of you insist on your robes of white, your cloaks & beautiful flower headdresses, glitter, bones & feathers... I know, I know.. I have been known to be rather partial myself. But here’s the thing, increased magical power it does not give. Yes it allows us to step out of the mundane and some may even think it makes them terribly important and grandiose in community standing. Well what tosh is all I have to say to that last part!

But let me be clear here, there is nothing wrong with a drop of pageantry in ritual, of spectacle that helps to create the beauty and the magic. After all are we not there to hold doors open, to create the bridges so that those of us less confident, or knowledgeable and perhaps new to our world, are able to walk through accessing their own experience and making their own connections. How we look and feel helps us in that role and with that purpose.

However, we must not lose sight of the fact that all of the sparkles, frosting, glitter and decoration in the world, means absolutely nothing if the cake that is being adorned is missing most or all of its vital ingredients. Therefore a cake may look yummy but tastes absolutely disgusting. Let that be a lesson to all of you!

So always remember just because somebody looks the part, has the perceived look of the moment and is wearing the up to date clothes that are deemed appropriate pagan fashion, you know the ones I’m talking about... Well let me tell you all right here and now... It don’t necessarily make it so!

Yes coordinating our look in big ritual, being mindful of the intent and focus of the spell we are weaving, all has its place and can indeed be very important. But not understanding colour association (not including those who are opening still new and learning) with the intent, the season with the magic that is being woven means you need to do some homework. Ultimately what you wear, the clothes on your back the velvet cloaks, the white robes, fancy dresses and fabulous adornments, are NOT important in the big scheme of things... They definitely have their place and we love them, but don’t be lemmings my Lovelies, develop your own style, wear what you are comfortable in or what is appropriate for the task at hand and most importantly learn your craft..

So there you have it, we have traversed our first problem shared moment, but please do feel free to email me at spiritofawen@btinternet.com with all your questions, queries, and magical problems. I will look forward to hearing from you. Make sure you mark your email FAO V.Buttercup, Precious Pixie corner...

Until next Month

Tittle Tattle Nook
Well welcome to Tittle Tattle Nook... A little place of potential naughtiness...A little gossip corner as a bit of light relief and medicine for the soul.

So we will never divulge our sources, nor will we ever say what is fact, truth and what is absolutely made up..Haha... Obviously most will be made up... Or will it???.... Oh come on...really..what did you think we were going to do here?...But just maybe there is a grain of truth & sometimes a lot of truth in everything written... The Choice dear reader is up to you to decide what you want to believe and what you do not... We feel like we need to have one of these disclaimers that somebody reads out ridiculously fast at the end of an advert.. You know the Terms and Conditions etc, etc.. Readers own discretion etc, no magical workers were harmed in the creation of this article etc., you get the picture.. So read on dear reader at your own discretion and enjoy! ,

However, truth be told, there is not much to report in this first edition, we have great hopes of being able to report on the comings and goings in our magical world throughout the year in future additions. But as a little sweetener, here is a little tip bit for you all.. Word from the hedgerow is that some discerning Druids of our acquaintance are believed to be re-writing the magical history books. Shock horror we hear you all gasp..

It has been reported that within the rewritten pages, we here at the Awen Gazette, have been reliably informed, that it won’t be too long before we are to be instructed on whom we are able to consider a Goddess and God and who we can’t! Well it’s not for us here to comment on individuals preferences or perspectives re the Gods.. After all, we would not wish to make windows into anyone’s souls, as a famous Queen once said, (Elizabeth (1st if anyone’s interested).

However, our advice is don’t believe everything you are told, hear or shown. Do your own due diligence, make up your own minds and don’t be pressured into accepting the word according to garp, regardless who the Garp might be!

Last bit for this edition, it is Samhain after all, so it would be churlish not to mention this. But we happen to know of a serious bit of ghost busting that has been filmed. In fact several series, if what we have been told is to be believed. Sources close the Ghost busting team who have been missing for months whilst they have been looking for ‘Lost Souls’, have now been found with their own TV series on Amazon Prime....I know.. one of Spirit of Awen’s own... No word of a Lie, you couldn’t make it up... Check it out....

So there you have it for this edition, but please do get in touch with your tip bits, your tittle tattle.. I will never divulge a source.. honest...You are completely safe with me... Email spiritofawen@btinternet.com also ensure to address it to Awen gazette Tittle- Tattle Nook. We will look forward to hearing from you all..

May your Ancestors always be at your back

Until next time

Blessings from The Nook...

Where we will all be working with the Wisdom, Magic and Spirit of Heron.
TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW... Don’t miss out!

It will come as no surprise to most of you that we have been very busy since we left the field in August and are already planning next year’s extravaganza, which I am pleased to share, is already making significant headway.

From ritual planning to bring new workshops and talks to the field, I am truly excited for next year. There is a special magic I think associated with the Heron, the Watcher of the Hidden Pathways, The silent Warrior of the tribes, and so I know that the magic that we all create will be extra special.

Thus far we have already re-booked many of your favourite workshop facilitators, from our resident Black Smith Dan and of course Nick for Bronze and silver casting. Clare will be joining us with felt and spinning and Jon with wand and staff making, to name but a few.

Awen of course, wouldn’t be Awen without Damh The Bard starting things off on Friday 31st July after the opening ritual. We will also welcome back Herding Cats with Cain and Joe, with the beautiful Liz Le Fey joining us and singing a set. Open Mic will give all of you the opportunity to release your inner pop star, not to mention all of the other amazing bands & musicians, which we will announce as we go along.

Walter, whose land we now call the home to The Spirit of Awen camp, is officially and lovingly known as the ‘Magical Baker of Awen. So make sure you make way for all the cakes, in particular the chocolate brownies and cheesecakes..Of course there is also the lemon drizzles and the GORGEOUS Quiche.. Don’t panic my Lovelies you have 9 months to prepare yourselves!

There will be Drumming and story-telling around the central fire and soooo much more. So please do keep an eye on the website and don’t forget to make sure you get your tickets sorted in good time. Go On, You know you all want to! For those who might be interested we do offer instalment payment scheme, just let us know if this is something that would work for you.

Anyways Magical Folk of Awen, I will leave it here for this first edition. I promise the updates will improve and grow in volume of information over the coming months. Have a wonderful Samhain and Blessings of the Season to you all.

Samhain Ancestors

The Festival of Remembrance is upon us. Samhain marks the turning of the wheel into the dark time of the year, as the blanket of the Mother of Winter is thrown around our shoulders.

*Don’t forget to leave an empty place at the table

*Decorate your altar with tokens & pictures
of your dearly departed loved ones

*Leave offerings for the Ancestors, Soul Cakes
and a drop of Mead...

Divination Alley
Rune, Tarot & Ogham for the month
This is a general reading of universal energy for the coming month.
Tarot, Rune and Ogham cards
Tarot: The Hermit

Very appropriate as we enter the dark time of the year. The Hermit defiantly indicates time for introspection, to hibernate, rest and recuperate before the party season gets under way. But there is also an important message about being responsible for finding your own way at this time. Lift your own lantern on high, don’t be afraid to shine your own light and don’t allow others to take it from you...The path they choose to follow might not be the one for you...

Rune: Feoh

A lovely rune to pull for this time of year, bringing a slight lightness and indicating that for the moment the pressure is off. You have everything that you need at this time to be comfortable even as we enter what can be for some a difficult time. Reading in conjunction with the Hermit the energies indicate that if you look after yourself properly then everything else will come.

Ogham: Ioho, the Yew

Well we couldn’t have a better Ogham pulled for the now. Indicating quite clearly the need to connect with your past, but in a positive way, this is about spiritual strength and perhaps for some of you a renewal a rebirth even. Wisdom can often be buried deep, but if we read the Yew in line with the Hermit and Feoh we are shown that we should trust our own light, not be afraid of who we are, our own wisdoms & our own magic. This time of year allows you time to sit, look and recharge, so enjoy and walk between the worlds with easy and confidence.
